- What’s one mistake you’ve made as a teacher that changed the way you teach forever?
crwdns2631929:0crwdne2631929:0
When I first began my journey, I felt the need to be in control and ignored the amazing things that my students brought into the classroom. I was way too organised and a bit boring. I realised, that it probably made the students feel uncomfortable and not totally free to be themselves and share ideas or opinions. I decided to focus more on what the students could achieve, allowed the students to be themselves, rather than focusing on the errors they were making or what I perceived their weaknesses to be.

Students goals, why are they learning English, what do they want to reach, current language level, how confident are they assess their speaking, listening and writing skills separately. How would they want to learn group activities, individual practice. Where and when do they need to learn English, have they done English learning before and what skills would they like to focus on.
- How do you conduct needs analysis speaking activity for your students ?

- What is your favorite way of introducing new words to English Learners?
English is such a complex Language yet simplifies as one advances. Introduction to new words help people differentiate words that may have the same meaning however is situation and noun dependent. How are some ways you as a Tutor, introduce new words to your students?
crwdns2631929:0crwdne2631929:0
Students can be introduced to new words, by using pictures, flashcards, playing word games or even through conversation. Tutors can bring up new words and challenge the students to guess the meanings, build sentences or guess the opposites, of the words etc.
- What are your unique ways of Teaching English online?
Everyone has their own teaching method, It would be nice if we could all share how each of us goes about teaching - other than the obvious. For example; I do Key Cards and we do role play. If when during the dialogue there are discrepancies, we will then work on the structure, word, or tense that needs attention.

I try to use different tools as much as possible. Blooket, kahoot, bamboozle, lyricstraining and many more. It's important to have fun while learning English. We talk about hypothetical scenarios etc.
- What questions do you ask your new students to get to know them?
crwdns2631929:0crwdne2631929:0
Introduce yourself, ask questions about student interest, what goal they want to reach, what they struggle with, maybe do a level test first, then give feedback. Lesson after the Trial lesson, do a free talk conversation about student hobbies to see how the grammar, pronunciation, and sentence structure are. In this way, you will start to know your student. This is only my opinion.
- What are the key supplementary skills teachers should develop to improve their teaching?
What additional skills should teachers cultivate beyond the essential teaching abilities required for their subject area?
crwdns2631929:0crwdne2631929:0
I would definately put Tech Skills on the top rung up the prime skills ladder--because when that virtual classroom video conferencing app crashes or you get stuck upside down in a meeting, its always fun to pretend you planned it all along. Some Emotional Intelligence goes a long way into being able to read the students' faces and figuring out if they are right out confused or they are plotting their escape from your horrendous clutches(you evil teacher). Oh, Time Management? That's just the art of being able to not let the lesson spiral into condemned chaos...as in from getting along like a house on fire... to total a building being burnt to ashes and you and the student being incinerated in the process. And finally, have a Laugh while you are at(a bit of Humor goes a long way), since we are falling over grammar, tripping and slipping, we might as well as Chuckle along the way!

If your teaching profile stands out and aligns with what students are seeking, they'll reach out to you. Getting started can be tough, and building a student base takes time. So, hang in there, concentrate on delivering excellent trial lessons, and good ratings, reviews, and word of mouth will take you a long way. Best of luck! 😎
- What are some effective ways to market yourself outside of the platform to bring in more students?
crwdns2631929:0crwdne2631929:0
Concentrate on the social media platforms where your target audience spends their time, like Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. Make sure your profiles are public and easy to find. Share tips, quizzes, or fun facts about English and its culture. And remember to include relevant hashtags to boost your visibility. Good luck! 😎
