I like the expression "eres un sol", it's a warm way to express affection for someone who is kind or has done something special for you. There are some other ways to convey the same in English but when it's literally translated into English it doesn't mean the same.
The same that is for my Spanish speaking English students - saying the right sentence with right tense :)

Como profe encuentro que en español de España es muy difícil aprender las conjugaciones y las preposiciones, porque repiten mucho su uso en el caso de las preposiciones, en Latino América no repetimos el uso de una preposición. En castellano latinoamericano, encuentro que les es difícil escuchar una conversación real porque tenemos una diferencia demasiado grande de acentos entre frontera y frontera, y de sinónimos, y en la mayoría de los países de LATAM se mezclan expresiones de algún idioma indígena originario con el castellano, no es PURO castellano. Así que es Español las preposiciones y conjugación (Gramática) En castellano los acentos y sinónimos (Escucha y vocabulario)

English vs Spanish :) It depends of the opportunities, the age, the aptitud and actitud the learner has to be in contact with the languages, I have met people who manage both languages as native people because they were in contact with the languages since they were babies.
