"Barrister" is a term used in the UK and other Commonwealth countries. A barrister is a lawyer who represents clients in court. "Solicitor" is also a term used in the UK and some Commonwealth countries and it means a lawyer who doesn't go to court but gives legal advice and prepares legal documents for clients. "Lawyer" is a general term that can be used for anyone who practices law. Then, "Attorney" is a term commonly used in the USA. It refers to a lawyer who has passed the bar exam and is licensed to practice law. Therefore, a barrister and a solicitor are both types of lawyers and attorney and lawyer are the same thing.

Similar sounds, it is not difficult per se for me but it is sometimes difficult to explain the difference in some sound pronunciation to some students.
