Hi there, I'm Yoshi. Thank you for clicking on my profile. I was born and raised in Japan and currently live in Seoul, South Korea where I'm teaching Japanese and Korean. I’m a professional language instructor. Besides teaching Japanese and Korean, my biggest passion is traveling. I love experiencing different cultures, meeting people from all over the world, and talking about different countries such as Japan and South Korea, or learning about yours. I love meeting people from different places, so meeting new students, getting to know them and supporting them on their language learning journey is really exciting for me - an enthusiasm I always bring to my lessons! In my personal life I have visited over 50 different countries and am passionate about language learning. I think it's one of the best parts of mastering another language that you can get totally new information and knowledge through it and make friends with people who have a different cultural background. You can do it! I passed the Japanese teaching competency test in Japan 19 years ago and I've been teaching Japanese ever since. I completed Korean teaching courses too. Until now, I had taught thousands of students in universities, officers in government organizations and even business executives in Korean companies like Samsung and numerous lessons online too. I also did many recording works for textbooks/audiobooks/advertisement and appeared in Japanese nationwide news shows. Moreover I hosted a public educational program for on a Korean nationwide EBS radio program for 6 years. You can even find my voice on Netflix as a narrator in several animation series’. Now I also work as a professional researcher in the field of second language acquisition and language proficiency evaluation at Seoul National University. I’m currently developing a second language proficiency examination in Korea, and testing the language ability of national officers’ including diplomats and national security officers. I offer three courses. The first is the most formal of my programs. In this program, you will learn essentials including grammar, reading, speaking, listening and writing. We will use a textbook for systematic learning. Beginners are welcome! The second is for those who have learned the language before. We can have more conversation oriented lessons so you can practice real conversation with a native speaker. You also will develop a natural speaking style which can be understood by native speakers. My third course is for the advanced learners. I pick up an interesting article before every lesson. At the beginning of the lesson we practice reading it out loud with a focus on correct pronunciation. I’ll also check whether you comprehend the text and expressions in detail. After that we talk about the topic and you will state your opinion. Of course, If you have a particular goal, I will tailor the lessons to achieve it.
