Hi, I’m Yoshi, a professional Korean and Japanese language instructor based in Seoul, South Korea. I am a professor in the International Studies Department at Seoul Digital University, as well as a senior researcher and lecturer at Seoul National University. I also serve as a lecturer at the Seoul office of the Japan Foundation, the organization responsible for developing the JLPT. Additionally, I frequently appear on Korean television and Japanese radio programs. I’m passionate about teaching and traveling, having visited over 50 countries. I love meeting people, learning about different cultures, and supporting students on their language learning journey. Mastering a language opens doors to new knowledge and friendships across cultural boundaries! Being an online tutor brings me a completely different kind of joy compared to my workplaces responsibilities. It allows me to share the Korean and Japanese languages with people from entirely different backgrounds around the world. I passed the Japanese teaching competency test in Japan 20 years ago and I've been teaching Japanese ever since. I completed Korean teaching courses too. Until now, I had taught thousands of students in universities, officers in government organizations and even business executives in Korean companies like Samsung and numerous lessons online too. I also did many recording works for textbooks/audiobooks/advertisement and appeared in Japanese nationwide news shows. Moreover I hosted a public educational program for on a Korean nationwide EBS radio program for 6 years. You can even find my voice on Netflix as a narrator in several animation series’. Now I also work as a professional researcher in the field of second language acquisition and language proficiency evaluation at Seoul National University. I’m currently developing a second language proficiency examination in Korea, and testing the language ability of national officers’ including diplomats and national security officers. I offer three courses: 1. A structured program covering grammar, reading, speaking, listening, and writing using a textbook, ideal for beginners. 2. A conversational course for those with prior experience, focused on real-life practice and developing a natural speaking style. 3. A customized course tailored to students' needs. Whether it's to pass an exam, for business purposes, reading original texts, writing, or other specialized goals, I can provide instruction. Many of my former students have gone on to become professionals using the languages. Some have secured jobs at Japanese or Korean companies, studied at higher education institutions, or become translators. Finally, let me recommend textbooks for beginners to intermediate learners. For Korean, the New Ganada Korean series is my first choice, and for Japanese, the Genki series is highly recommended. I have a wide variety of books for both languages, so if you already have a textbook, I can tailor the lessons to match it.
