Hello! 👋 My name is Patty.😃 I am from South Africa 🇿🇦 and I am a native English speaker with a neutral English accent. I hold a bachelor of education degree in English. I am interested in traveling and in the past year I was able to travel to Malaysia 🇲🇾 and Singapore 🇸🇬. However, I aspire to travel to other countries in the north of Africa, Asia, Europe and the United States. I have experience working as a waitress, a cashier and a retail assistant merchandiser. Working in these spaces has allowed me to learn valuable knowledge, listening skills and to help people and make sure that they receive exactly what they need. I like learning new languages as well as cooking 🧑‍🍳. I learn a new recipe every week because I enjoy eating 🍽️ healthy and delicious 🤤 food 🥘. I also like physical exercise and I would like to incorporate it into my daily routine. My favorite hobbies are reading 📖 and writing ✍️. A good reader makes a good writer ✍️. I have taught students of all ages, from toddlers, teenagers and adults. Also, I hold a 120 hours TEFL certificate. I have 2 years tutoring experience full time and part time. I also have about 2 months experience with teaching English online. I took a course in Malaysia 🇲🇾 for business English. This helped me to expand my knowledge on communicative English. My teaching philosophy is that breaking down the learning process makes it easier to learn and understand. It’s okay to be scared because it is a reminder of what you need to work on, and making mistakes is a good 😊 thing because it how we learn and grow. The most important part is knowing what went wrong and how to fix it. In my lessons we will focus on business English and conversational English. We will read books 📚, articles and magazines to increase your vocabulary. We will also watch videos and listen 🎧 to audios so that you can improve your listening 👂 skills. My classes are learner centered, meaning that as the student 👩‍🎓 you will be the focus of my lesson. So, throughout the lesson, you will speak 🗣️ more than I do and this will help you improve your fluency and speaking skills. My classes are fun 🤩 we will play educational games and use real life scenarios to help you practice, using role play and activities. I will listen to what you say and correct you immediately
