Before becoming a teacher, I worked as a Clinical Psychologist for many years. My entire adult life I have always worked in service of others which I enjoy. I love experiencing different cultures. While living in the USA, I have been fortunate enough to experience different cultures because Chicago is pretty diverse with various neighborhoods. This experience, along with my childhood, heightened my desire to want to travel outside of the USA. There are so many beautiful, diverse cultures and people; I want to experience as much as possible. Food is a big deal. I am a dedicated foodie. I have been teaching English as a second language privately for 9 years. I have a 180-hour TEFL certification, a BA in Human Resources Management, an MA in Counseling Psychology, and a Ph.D.Clinical Psychology My teaching style is relaxed, while still maintaining a laser focus on identified goals of language learning. Initially, I like to gather information regarding goals and desired outcomes from the student. From there, I like to focus on building rapport and making sure that the student has a certain level of comfort. It is most certainly nerve-racking when a person is doing something new. This is magnified when a new language is involved. I have a natural ability to build rapport online. I am patient and encouraging. I am very organized and also have the ability to make sure that the student stays focused on the task at hand, while still experiencing a fun. creative, and interactive session.
