Claire Calvert

My name is Claire Calvert. I am 43 years old and from the beautiful country of South Africa. My hobbies include, reading, listening to music, spending time with family and friend. I enjoy going to the gym and I thoroughly enjoy spending my time doing gardening. I hold a 140 hour TEFL certification and I taught English as a Second Language to high school students aged between 12 and 18 years, in Thailand, for a year and 6 months. During my stint in Thailand, I taught students online, aged 5 to 12 years, on a part-time basis. My teaching style incorporates the use of TPR, the use of props, flashcards cards and creative games to make my lessons interactive and fun. I mainly focus on phonetic and grammar rules. For more advanced students I focus on comprehension abilities by discussing conversational topics of choice. I firmly believe in fostering a safe and comfortable environment that caters towards critical thinking by encouraging my students to ask questions.
