Hello everyone!
My name is Chloe and I am 30 years old and am from the United Kingdom. I lived in the UK for 26 years and moved to Cambodia in 2019, where I now live with my dog.
My hobbies include keeping fit, I follow a vegetarian diet, walking outside in nature as much as possible and exploring. So far in my life I have travelled to Bali, Singapore, Vietnam, Malaysia, Nepal, Spain, Portugal and Cambodia. I love to explore, experience different cultures and taste new foods!
As a native English speaker I feel confident in supporting you with your English speaking journey too, and like to use conversations and questions in a relaxed style.
After leaving university I taught students with Special Educational Needs who were aged 14-17 years old, this was a variety of subjects and where the lessons were engaging and allowing the students to explore the subject with confidence.
Following this I worked in a mainstream setting teaching Media Studies to students aged 16-19 years old. As well as running lessons on different modes of media such as photography, videography, advertising, performing arts and visual arts, I ran a 'moving bus' project. This project worked with 13-15 year olds, where they were taught how to use a 360 degree camera and interview successful eco-friendly businesses and companies.
I like to teach as interactive, student-centered and focused on open speech and active conversation. Emphasizing on the importance of communication, collaboration and building a supportive yet relaxed learning environment, so you can able to feel as comfortable as possible. In a conversation, I like to firstly act as the facilitator and have meaningful discussions so I get to learn about your thoughts, ideas and opinions too. You will eventually become part the facilitator, where this creates a flow conversation where you will be engaging in questions and listening. This style of teaching not only promotes conversation, but active listening. As you will be able to collaborate, empathize and respect the conversation and respond with your perspective too. I am open to speaking about real-world topics, personal experiences and hobbies/ interests. Overall, my aim is to support you in reaching a level of English where it feels fun and conversational!
