Hello, my name is Isidro Merida, I am a Guatemalan raised in the United States. I am a certified English teacher and also an experienced (Latin American) Spanish tutor. As far as my teaching experience goes, I have a bit more than three years in the field.
I am honest, respectful, hardworking, and passionate about helping others. In the field of teaching, I have strong communication, listening, collaboration, patience and empathy skills. I also value real-world learning and share best practices. I am a lifelong learner, adaptable and engaging teacher. My unique selling point is that I always create a sense of community in the classroom.
During the last three years, I have been expanding my experience as a teacher. Since then, I have immersed myself in teaching in my home country. It was not by pure chance, but it was decreed by fate. I started as a tutor and substitute at two different s
My teaching style is mainly focused on class participation. I adapt it to cater for everyone and make the material as interesting as possible.
I like to use group exercises, colorful PowerPoint slides, and even videos when possible, to demonstrate my learning points. I think this is something that significantly increases student interest and, in my experience, leads to a better overall learning experience.
I am very effective in managing behavior and focus on the three R's of RESPECT, RESPONSE and the RIGHT way to learn. These have served me well over time.
Finally, I have an accessible and inclusive teaching style that is flexible enough to meet a wide range of learning styles, needs, and requirements.
