My name is Leslie and I am a native English speaker of British decent. I live in Port Elizabeth, in sunny South Africa. I love the outdoors like nature hiking and mountain climbing. I love travelling, seeing new places and embracing new cultures. In addition I enjoy getting involved in community cleanups, waste reduction and energy conservation projects. I enjoy reading philosophy books, history books and travel magazines. I am an engaging, empathetic, patient and adaptable teacher and very passionate about forming meaningful relationships with my students and watching them grow and master new skills. I have taught English Thailand, Laos, China and recently for 1 year in Vietnam. I have about 18 000 hours of in class teaching experience and about 600 hour of online teaching experience to students from as young as 5 years to over 60 years old. I have travelled to more than 12 countries around the world where I lived and worked in various fields, from construction, chemical manufacturing and sales to hotel management and teaching at various language schools and online. I currently own a construction and renovation business in South Africa and still finding myself teaching English online to students from all over the world and in the townships to young children. I am a certified TEFL graduate and also have a Diploma in Educational Psychology. My students can expect honesty, sincerity and a teacher that listens, is engaging, empathetic, patient and adaptable and very passionate about forming meaningful relationships with my students and watching them grow and master new skills. I try to ensure that there is always a bit of fun and laughter in my class coupled with a meaningful life lesson. I like to listen and focus on pronunciation, vocabulary and last but not least, grammar. My classes are usually conversational and I like to allow my students to pick a topic we can explore and talk about. I can also assist students with preparations for IELTS.
