My Name is Fortune Jim and I am a teacher, my everyday goal is to have positive impact on people. I am a highly motivated educator with the skills of active listening, patience, empathy, adaptability and respectful attitude. I hope to contribute as much as possible to help in the development and growth of the students.
Being able to to communicate effectively and efficiently is one of the keys to my strength as a teacher.
My hobbies are swimming, listening to music, watching movies and playing I try to make my lessons as real and relevant as possible.
I try to explain why we are doing things and what this leads to (I have industry experience so I know why).
I try to be cutting edge with technology.
I try to make lesson fun and engaging.
I try to help my students get the highest grades possible.
I try to respect and listen to my students.
My two biggest weaknesses are:
I cannot relate to low ability students. I always learn things quickly. I have strategies to help them.
I have been teaching English for 5 years I have taught all grade levels from 1st to freshman year of Graduate School.
I have always treated students with respect paying attention to all of the verbal and non-verbal indications that revealed the lives they were living.
Fairness was always the central theme of my Classroom managing style.
Get ready for an engaging lessons, thought provoking discussions and a whole lot of fun as we explore the fascinating world of English. Together we will unlock your potential
I take a longview on my students’ education. Yes, there are exams I need to prepare them for, but it’s important to remember that your students will have forgotten most of your class 5 or 10 years down the road unless they go further with the material. That might sound depressing, but I find it rather inspiring. How do I make my teaching sticky? What are the sorts of things that have stuck with me which have proven useful? How can I use my own things-not-forgotten to augment the stickiness of what must be taught?
I question boundaries of what I should teach. I noticed issues with my students not asking questions, so I started trying to improve their question asking ability. Is that the purview of the English teacher? I say it is because it will help them learn English .
