Charmaine Makaching

Hello! I am Charmaine from Hong Kong :) I'm native in both Chinese and English. Being brought up under the international environment in Hong Kong, I have seen many foreign travellers and expats trying to learn our language, which motivates me a lot to promote my mother tongue and allow more people from around the world to learn this amazing language. I'm a very extroverted person who loves making friends with diverse individuals. In my free time, I have a passion for art-related activities. I also adore animals and have 2 cats at home, so you may get to meet them during our lessons! I'm excited to connect with new people and share my linguistic and cultural background. I don't have much language teaching experience as I am a fresh high school graduate, however, as I attended an international school, I have always taught my foreign friends basic Chinese and they all grew to love the language a lot. Despite this, I teach Saxophone to young kids as I am a professional Saxophonist, and this certainly stems my passion in teaching. Although Chinese might appear to be a hard language at first, with the seemingly complicated characters and words, it is actually a really fun language and is easy to grasp! After a few lessons, you will be confident in speaking the language despite minimal knowledge and will be confident in making Chinese friends or even travelling in Chinese speaking countries!
