When I taught Grade R in 2010.. I had a student who had difficulty learning and always peed himself. I researched to know his background situation at home and once I did I knew how to boost his confidence and he started passing with flying colours. I will never forget that experience in my years of teaching!🥲
One of my most memorable success stories was with a student named Maria. When Maria first started working with me, she was very shy and had difficulty expressing herself in English. We worked together for several months, focusing on building her confidence and improving her English skills. Over time , I saw Maria transform into a confident and articulate speaker. By the end of our time together, she was able to give presentations in front of her classmates and even won a public speaking competition at her school.It was incredibly rewarding to see how far Maria had come and to know that I had played a role in her success. It’s moments like these that remind me why I love teaching.
When I taught grade 1,I had a student who who finds it difficult to read and he was very shy,I had to start start with positive words of affirmation for the class every morning to boast his confidence,I noticed the more he keeps saying it he was more relaxed, knowing how gifted he really is,thus as time went on he was confident and he could read the words on his own,then I proceed with teaching him the phonics incorporating sentence to the sounds and gradually even his mom had to come to testify of the drastic improvement,this was a cherished and fulfilling time for me now saying him read fluently is a beautiful sight to behold.

This is was a period when I had a student who didn't know anything in English and he needed a job which required him to know English. I started teaching him and he was focused and lent so fast that he started working at that company after a year of me tutoring him. And this event was unforgettable one for me

Encourage learners to create sentences or role play-using idioms. Group idioms by themes ( e.g weather animals) to aid memory. Incorporate quizzes, matching activities, or charades for engagement.
