It all depends on yourself, your methods of learning and your approach to it. In case you really want to know the language, and you sure love it, you will unconsciously put all your efforts into and the results are going to be surprising. In terms of amount of time, in order for you to get an idea, if you put yourself in an environment where you will be obligated to speak and understand French, trust me in 6 months you will be able to communicate to anyone. And if you keep the same tempo, it'll take you about 3 more months to get rid of all the small mistakes in your pronunciation and spelling. The rest will be just adding to what you will know by then as we will never entirely know a language.
You can catch pretty fast if you put on the effort, if you already speak english you can do it. But you need help from someone expertised on the language. Book a lesson with me and you will see a difference in your level.

Salut Yotaha, If you are an English speaker, learning French requires 575-600 hours of study (or 23-24 weeks full- time) . It is the same as the European Romance language ( French , Spanish , Italian etc). And the Germanic ones ( Danish, Swedish,) So to learn French language make sure to be more efficient by follow an initial plan of action. You need to take a look at what you will learn during the first hour, first day, first week and first month or learning French to see how accurate and passionate you are in learning. If you need lessons in French language book me let’s study together always remember that your determination, love and passion in learning will determine how fast you will progress in being a French speaker and writer. Take care

I can make you be able to at least convey your meaning in 2 weeks.
You can start speaking the language basically in 2-3 months but in order to make a basic proper conversation you definitely need 5-6 months
