I think the conversation is more important. You could learn to speak the language first and then further develop your ability to write in that language as you go along, and that’s where grammar comes in😀

If I were given an option to choose one it would be conversation. It is within conversation where you get to learn on your grammar.
Always conversation becomes key in learning since it tells alot about a student.It tells the level a student has reached. Grammar comes in as important too in the places like exams or where a student is supposed to give the exact pronunciations.
Most people it's conversation, but grammar becomes more important for academic people who want to study abroad.
The way I see it is conversation for sure. As conversation is an application of grammar as well as two skills in one: speaking and listening. Furthermore, it's even much advisable to learn grammar in sentences to acquire the language sense.
It's really depends on your need, if you want to study in that country, then Grammer is more important, because you need to pass exams. If you only want to work in that country, you can start with conversation first.
