Ana Costa

I consider myself a citizen of the world! Born in Mozambique to Portuguese parents, I studied in International/American/British schools while living in England, Brazil, Venezuela, Mozambique and Portugal. I recently settled in the Ivory Coast. Traveling is a passion and have been lucky enough to be able to visit many countries in Europe, North and a South America, Asia and Africa. I enjoy outdoor activities, like hiking, quad skating and swimming; as well as indoor ones, like reading, yoga, meditation, cooking and going to the movies. I have a friendly nature and I'm quite easy going. I have now been teaching for over 10 years. From adults who want to improve their communication skills for work or when they travel; to high schoolers, middle schoolers and primary schoolers; to preschoolers and kindergartners. My youngest student was 2,5 years old and my oldest was 81 years old. It has been a two-way learning process, as I too learn from my students. I adapt my lessons according to the age, knowledge and interests of my students, often approaching subjects like travel, work/school, celebrations around the world (Christmas, Mardi Gras/Carnival, Ramadan, Yom Kippur, Diwali), sustainability, but also approach controversial subjects, like civil rights, racism, and war. Lessons have a big focus on oral skills, as this is one of the most difficult areas for learners. I teach several techniques that will help you overcome your speaking difficulties. Learners will learn vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation, and will have plenty of time to practice these skills throughout each lesson. Book a trial lesson with me before any further commitment.
