I'm from Kimberley, sunny South Africa! I have a lifelong passion for teaching. I also love poetry. In my spare time I do Tai-Chi, am a biker, listen to music and love travelling. I have more than 10 years teaching English in Botswana, Tanzania and Russia. I teach using from zero level to advanced and language proficiency levels. I use a relaxed, friendly but immersive method, and this works well with learners who are not always confident in starting a new language. I also teach remedial English, helping those who may have missed something in the basics, or might not have learnt the language in an adequately structured manner, to rectify their mistakes and restore their confidence. I specialise in correcting pronunciation, enunciation and fluency. I also provide an understanding of informal colloquial English. Finally, I assist learners who may be preparing to write English tests by explaining the most difficult grammatical and idiomatic nuances of spoken and written English. My teaching style is highly intuitive and conversational, allowing the learner to comfortably find their feet. I teach in a structured, progressive manner that emphasises incremental learning, and ensuring that the accumulated vocabulary is relevant to the learner's needs and interests. It is important to always remember that some learners, especially very busy people, may not have all the time required for their home studies; all this must taken into account by both the tutor and the learner.
