I learned Spanish growing up in California, and minored in Spanish in college. My major was in Sustainability Studies. I spent a summer at a learning camp for students with autism, where I taught music to children, Direct Instruction Spoken English to Spanish-speaking parents, and Direct Instruction Pre-Algebra to a high school aged sibling of one of the children. This experience taught me the skills of patience and sticking to a task and the rewards of seeing students learn. I am working with a doctoral student who has expertise in curriculum selection and, where necessary, design, to make sure that I can be as effective as possible in tutoring.
