Hi, I’m Karen. 33 years old, from Cork, Ireland, I moved to England 12 years ago to train as a teacher and never returned! I’ve been a primary school teacher for the past eleven years now and I absolutely love teaching, it’s not just a job for me - it genuinely feels like a vocation Recently, I took a year out to follow my dream of travelling, which has broadened my perspective and deepened my understanding of different cultures and languages. I’ve been dedicated to primary teaching, across Key Stage 2 (Year 5 and Year 6) for the past 11 years. In this time, I’ve gained a wealth of experience, especially in preparing children for their SATS and ensuring they are fully equipped to transition into Key Stage 3. I’ve also taught English as an additional language to many children and adults in the classroom and on other online platforms I’m well-versed in adapting my teaching to different learning environments. I understand how important it is for each student to receive personalised learning to maximise their progress. I pride myself in my friendly, patient approach. Teaching is more than just a job to me—it’s a vocation I’m truly passionate about. I always strive to make my lessons as engaging as possible, and I love to use rhymes, songs, and videos to bring learning to life where appropriate. I believe that using these creative techniques helps students retain knowledge better and makes the learning process much more enjoyable.
