The IELTS test is otherwise known as “the international English language testing system”.

Like any examination, you need to prepare for a few weeks or even months in order to acquire your ideal band score. It takes hard work and consistency in order to achieve great results.

Familiarize Yourself With the IELTS Structure

The IELTS speaking test is far more complex and formal in structure than your regular free talk. It is because you have to be coherent and concise at the same time. You need to practice using conjunctions and linking words, as well as connectors that will make your sentence easily understandable. In a nutshell, you must study the different types of sentence structure, whether it is compound sentences or complex sentences.

Study a Good Amount of Vocabulary

A wide range of vocabulary is needed for you to be able to express yourself well. Study and learn on a consistent basis, collocation, adjectives, phrasal verbs among others.

Use a few idioms that fit your answer… Instead of saying the building is tall. Use the phrase, skyscraper. This will give you a better score because you are being graded for vocabulary.

Practice Speaking Consistently

Practice not just with your IELTS teacher but with your friends and colleagues, or even family members. The more you use English, the better your fluency.

Write Down Your Mistakes

You need not only write down your mistakes but also try to consciously correct them next time until you get it right.

Last But Not Least Tip

Familiarize yourself with different types of questions. More often than not, some will be repeated. However, do not memorize sample answers because it is not going to help. You need to sound more natural during the examination time.
