Convenience/Flexibility

Convenience plays a big part in many people’s decision to study online. Students can fit their studies around their busy schedules. It is helpful for those with work or other commitments.

When I was working, studying online was more convenient than travelling to a physical classroom after work. Some days were busier than others. If attendance were a requirement for exam admission, I would not have written exams.

Customised material

Online learning allows for the customisation of the learning experience. Students can choose courses that match their interests and career goals. They can receive an education tailored to their needs. Online learners can choose how they want to learn, whether through video lectures, interactive quizzes, or other methods. It can help students retain information better.

Imagine teaching writing to a student who wants to learn how to speak English confidently. Tasks that encourage dialogue or monologue are best for such a student, as it deals directly with their learning goal.

One-on-one learning and technology skills

The teacher can focus on their needs while the lesson is general in a group class. They can take their time to understand the material. They are not hurried or pressured. They can review course materials as often as needed. They learn at their own pace. They can communicate with their teachers through email, chat, or other online platforms, which means they can get help with their coursework whenever needed.

Students use technology to access and interact with course materials. They develop valuable technology skills that are essential in the workforce. These skills include email, chat, video conferencing, and other online platforms.

At my previous workplace, we had e-learning, where we would learn about new products. If there were system changes, we often had to do them online. I did my studies online. We had weekly lessons offered via Teams to help us with our studies.
